24th November 2020

Dear Centre Member

This has certainly been a strange year for our hobby, with ever changing restrictions and requirements.

The good news is that we have been able to run 3 Rallies over August, September and October, including a 5 Day Rally.

The bad news of course is that we have had to cancel the vast majority of our events this year, including our AGM Rally, AGM Meeting and Rally Social Event, which was scheduled for 9th – 11th October.

With Covid restrictions in mind, we have rescheduled the AGM Meeting to Saturday 30th January 2021, starting at 11am prompt (doors open from 10.30am).  Numbers in attendance are currently limited to 30, although we will increase that number if we are able to, and for this reason, only 1 member per Family can attend.

We have decided to run a Virtual AGM at the same time for those who cannot attend, but would like to be a part of the process.

To enable this to run smoothly, we have placed  booking links on the website, and below, where you can enter your details and book your place:

Attendance AGM
Virtual AGM

Please note only the first 30 bookings made to attend the meeting (under current restrictions) will be given a place.

All bookings will be acknowledged by email, and all AGM Documents will be forwarded to you in good time for the meeting.

Those booking into the virtual meeting will receive the link and password 5 days prior to the meeting.

We are still short of Committee Members, and would like to encourage you to think about joining us and help to run the Centre.

At present there are barely enough people to form a Committee for next year.

Please contact me for a Nomination Form, which can be used by any Full, Joint, Family or Life Member to put their name forward for any of the Committee Positions.  It should be returned to the Secretary no later than Saturday 16th January 2021.

Please give some serious thought to how you could help our Centre survive.  Other Centres have not been so lucky, with  2 English, 2 Welsh Centres closing, and 2 Scottish having to amalgamate, all because of lack of Committee Members.
We don't want to be next.

Best Regards

Sylvia                                                    Barry

Sylvia East                                                  Barry Roberts

29th September 2020

The 2020 AGM has been postponed to early 2021 due to the changing restrictions due to Coronavirus.
We still require nominations for Committee if we are to keep the Centre running in 2021.
The duties are not onerous, and we now use virtual meetings so it is even easier to attend meetings.
If you can spend a few hours during the year to help rebuild our Centre, please contact the secretary at :
The details of the delayed AGM will be announced in due course.

23rd August 2020

If you can spare a few hours each month to help on the committee your time will be appreciated, recently due to the Covid-19 situation we have been holding the meetings virtually so you do not even have to travel, contact the Secretary Sylvia East email for nominations and view the nominations on Committee Page.

22nd August 2020

We have a provisional Program ready for next season. Because of COVID19 we have had to cancel the Rally Forum scheduled for September at Fillongley Village Hall. We are therefore looking for Rally Officers to come forward and take on these Rallies, so that 2021 can be a full Rally Season.
If you can take on a Rally please contact : with your details and the Rally you would like to take on. You will then receive a form by email to complete.

31st July 2020

There is now a comprehensive Covid19 Protocol which has been requested by the Club.

This will be updated as the situation changes, and as the Club requests. VIEW HERE

 30th June 2020

We have just been advised by the CAMC that despite Caravan Sites opening from 4th July, the Government is continuing to restrict any gatherings, indoor or outdoor, to 6 people.

A group of up to 30 can meet for Weddings, Funerals etc., but for no other purpose. This will now be enforceable by law, and the Police have been given powers to disperse any illegal groups.
You may think that we should be able to hold Rallies of 30 people or less, but the Club has withdrawn the Exemption Certificate, which allows us to run Rallies, until the end of July.
We will keep you informed as to when Rallies can restart, and at this point we have not cancelled any EWCC Rallies from August onwards.

17th June 2020

Good Afternoon everyone
Please see the attached guidelines received from head office around holding rallies and how to stay Covid Secure, please have a read and post any thoughts and comments , the committee would like to hear from its members what you are feeling and how you think we can get back to rallying following the attached guidelines, or indeed if you think we shouldn't.
We all have our fingers crossed we can get the season rolling again soon, but how would you feel if we have to adhere to these guidelines, either as rally participants or indeed as Rally Officers running a rally, there is a lot to consider, no socials, no day visitors and preferably no transfer of cash.
Everyone's opinions are welcome and all input received will assist the committee with future decisions on rallies.
Many Thanks

10th June 2020

The rally at Hill Farm Moreton Paddox will NOT open on the 3rd July (or even 4th), Barry is working with the landowner to work out a date later in the month. Rallies will not have any 'Social' element for the foreseeable future, indoor or outdoor, I think the outdoor social aspect could be addressed quite quickly, but Barry is waiting for Covid19 process instructions from CAMC which are due in the next 2 weeks.

26th March 2020

2.       Committee Meetings should be operated via Skype, Whatsap etc. where needed

It may be that over 70’s may not attend (their choice) leading to cancelling Rallies due to low numbers Over 70’s may not be able to run Rallies

 Statement:  The National

  Dear Member

Following recent Government advice regarding the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak, we’re really sorry to confirm the National, at Belvoir Castle, will not be going ahead this year.

This decision has been taken following the Government’s announcement to implement increased social distancing, avoid large crowds gathering and to ensure we don’t put further strain on the emergency services.

We know the National is held dear by Club members, volunteers and staff alike, but the safety and wellbeing of our members, volunteers and staff is of paramount importance, so I’m sure you will support this announcement.

We would ask that you don’t call us while we are working through the process of managing the cancellation of the event, we will begin issuing full refunds as soon as possible.  Please bear with us, this may take up to 28 days to complete.

This decision has not been taken lightly, we appreciate your support and understanding during these difficult times.

  With best wishes

 Nick Lomas

7th December

Today a letter was sent to email addresses of 130 EWCC Members. A further 39 could not be contacted by email due to the status of their email preferences set on the Club website.

If you wish to receive emails from the Club, then you must ensure that your preferences are set correctly.

You may also find that the email could have been put in your junk email. To prevent this in the future, please ensure that email address is in your 'white list'. You may also like to include    in your white list, to ensure emails from the Centre can also get through.

The text of the letter is as follows :

Dear Member

You may have recently seen communications from the Centre Committee about the urgent need for volunteers to help run the East Warwickshire Centre. The Club offers guidance and support to all Officer Committee positions.

If you’re interested or would like to volunteer with the running of the Centre, then we’d love to hear from you.

The Centre’s Annual General Meeting has been postponed until Sunday 27 January 2019 at Bretford Village Hall and we hope that enough members will put their names forward to form a Committee and allow your Centre to continue operating; otherwise the Centre will no longer be able to function and the rally programme will cease.

The East Warwickshire Centre has a long history going back to 1964. We do not want to lose the Centre and its heritage.

If you can help or want more information, please contact the Centre Secretary, Sylvia East or the Vice-Chairman, Barry Roberts asap.

Details can be found on the Centre’s website

Yours sincerely

Nick Lomas,

Director General

2nd December

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Dennis Briggs  , after his long fight with Alzheimer's,  onSaturday 1st December.

Funeral details are:   12:30 Thursday 20th December at St Mary’s Church, Church Lane, Cubbington, Royal Leamington Spa CV32 7JT   Followed by a wake at the Kings Head, Church Hill, Cubbington.

Marion has asked for family flowers only with donations to the Alzheimer’s Society.

Dennis was an active member of our Centre and served on Committee 1982-85, then again 1991-92 becoming Chairman 1992-1994.

He was a Regional Representative from the beginning of the Central Region, and continued to attend Regional meetings as a Nominated Member.

A Member of Technical and Events Committees, and for two years Executive Committee, not forgetting Volunteer Warden from 2003 until his Dementia made it impossible to continue, but even then he loved being at Mildenhall while the volunteers were working.

Dennis and Marion attended many FICC Rallies, starting in 1998 in Poland, and while a Nominated Member and Executive Committee Member was one of about 10 Delegates for the Club.

Dennis will be a great loss to the Centre and the Club, and he will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Our thoughts are with Marion and the family at this time.

12th November

It is now a month since the SGM, and no new names have been put forward.  The Committee will have no option but to produce a plan to close the East Warwickshire Centre, due to lack of a new Committee for 2019 if this situation continues.  The next Committee Meeting is on 3rd December, and it would be good if we had names by then so that more drastic plans can be averted.

9th October

At the SGM held on 6th October, it was decided to continue to move forward with the existing Committee until the AGM, which will be held at Bretford Village Hall at 12 noon on Sunday 27th January 2019.

Members are now invited to send in Nominations for Committee positions to the Secretary ( to arrive no later than 2 weeks prior to the revised AGM.  All the previous rules of membership qualification will apply.

In the mean time, we are continuing to prepare a Rally Programme for 2019 in the hope that we can continue as a Centre.  Please look at the current list, and contact the Rally Secretary if you are able to take on a Rally.

23rd September

Due to the lack of Nominations for Committee (2) the current Committee has been forced to postpone the Centre AGM until January.

On 6th October, at 11.00 AM, a Special General Meeting will be held to present the details of the current situation, the consequences of failing to obtain sufficient nominations to form a Committee for 2019, and discuss the way forward for the Centre.

All Full, Joint and Family members of the East Warwickshire Centre are invited to attend and join in the discussions.

1st August

The Centre Secretary has been asked by the Chairman and Committee to send out a letter to all registered Centre Members, setting out the current status of the Centre.  Unfortunately without additional support at Rally Officer and Committee level, the future of the Centre is now in doubt.

Members are encouraged to contact the Secretary if they are able to help in any way to save our Centre.  The Caravan and Motorhome Club HQ have been appraised of the situation, and are providing support to the Centre Committee.

16th July

A notification has been sent to ALL Centre Members advising that the Centre AGM has now been moved to Kineton Sports & Social Club, due to the unavailability of suitable facilities at Stratford Racecourse. Date and Time of the AGM remain unchanged.

11th June

The poor turnout for the Chairman's Rally has resulted in the cancellation of a number of initiatives to raise money for the Centre Charity.

This was very disappointing, but we will still push on towards our target of £500.  Please support your Chairman, Committee and Rally Officers who are running events to raise money.

27th April

Out of the first 6 Rallies this season, 5 have been cancelled through a combination of weather conditions and lack of bookings.

The lack of bookings is now becoming a concern, and the future of the Centre is at stake. Please don't leave it until the last minute to book on to Rallies.  There is a grave danger that Land Owners will not want to book Rallies with us, only to find we are cancelling.

9th April

With the very wet start to the season, we have now had the 1st four Rallies cancelled !

The good news is that Croxall Farm Junior Rally WILL go ahead as planned.

Please don't wait to book into future Rallies, as with smaller numbers attending there are landowners who are reluctant to host small Rallies.

17th February

Hatton Country World Rally, hosted by the Leicestershire Centre, will now open at 2PM on Friday 25th May and not Saturday as previously advertised.

12th February

List of Printed Rally Books currently held by the Centre can also be found on the Rally Books page

You will also find PDF versions of other Centres who have sent their Books in this format.

27th January 2018

The Rally Books are here. Please contact Sylvia if you want one sending, or they can be obtained from any Committee Member after 2nd February.

A PDF copy will appear on this site under the Rally Adverts tab in the next couple of weeks.

At the AGM Social, a cheque for £450 was presented to Mick Greene, for the 2017 Centre Charity : Cancer Research.  A massive thank you to everyone who helped to raise this magnificent sum.

28th September 2017

24th September 2017

We have received some sad news this evening from Doreen Wilkie advising the Centre that Tony Wheway, a long standing Centre member and passed Chairman, passed away on Friday at 1pm. Funeral arrangements are to be advised. Once  we receive information about the arrangements we will let you all know.

31st August 2017

Due to the fact that there were no bookings from EWCC Members, we have had to cancel the Green Man Rally.   This may also have a knock on effect for future Rallies at this venue.

The Rally Officer's Meeting will have to be rearranged. Details to follow.

We have had negative feedback from a number of Landowners following cancelled Rallies, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to re-book some venues for the future.

Please do not leave it until the last minute to book. The normal 'cut-off' date is 2 weeks prior to the Rally.

15th June 2017

This achievement was even more impressive because Karen has a fear of heights !!!!

22nd April 2017

Bethany Coopey has now joined the Junior Committee,

Both Junior and Senior Committees are still short of Members, so if you want to help don't wait until the AGM, get in touch now and you will be made most welcome

Junior Committee Members Plea

Junior committee numbers are low and we need more centre junior members to join the committee. Please help keep the Junior committee going and encourage your children to join the committee. Rally Officers meeting will be held on September 11th 2016 @ 10am in Bretford Village Hall. Please please please come along and support the centre by volunteering to run a rally next year. After the meeting we will judge the photographic competition for next years rally book cover - this can be of any caravanning related subject , portrait format and 6'x8' minimum. Also we will hold the photographic competition for the Bowmar Trophy - any size or subject.
There will be no caravans present at the village hall as the rally itself is cancelled due to no bookings - HOWEVER WE ARE IN THE HALL - please use the car park as usual and come in and join us!
Many thanks Jackie

4th Sep 2016

The Rally Officers Meeting and Juniors Rally at Bretford next weekend (9 Sep) is at risk of being cancelled as there are NO Centre members booked on yet. There is a minimum charge for using Bretford so unless anyone books on by Monday evening, the rally will be cancelled to avoid the excess charges. If you were planning to drive out to the meeting on Sunday morning, please let us know by contacting any committee member, as we will try to get the village hall for Sunday morning only; it is essential that the meeting takes place to set up next year's programme. If Sunday hire is not possible on its own, then the rally will go ahead as planned despite low numbers.

24th June 2016

Help required...... Did you know that we only have 3 possible committee members for the next years caravan season 2016/17.

This will have serious impacts on the ability to run the centre and serve you as our members.

We are looking for volunteers to join the committee. New or returning volunteers would be gratefully appreciated. New volunteers will receive full support and will be shown how to manage their role.

Please support your centre if you have the time, just speak to any committee member if you are interested. Remember, without a better supported committee the centre is in trouble - it's a simple as that!!

18th May 2016

Help required......Are you interested in supporting the centre. You may not want to join the committee but you can still help keep the centre running.

1. Brown Bear - due to very small committee numbers the brown bear is no longer being produced.... would you like to help? you can be the Brown Bear editor without the formality of committing to joining the committee.

NEW COMMITTEE 2014 - 2015

At the AGM this year, you returned a smaller than usual Committee, and no Vice Chairman. The Committee is resolved to get everything done, just with less hands. There have already been offers of help from various people and their generosity is appreciated.

The Committee members are:
Chairman - Rob Penny
Secretary - Sylvia East
Treasurer - Karen Shaw
Committee - Nigel Burgoine, Sharron Jacques, Darren Shaw, Paul Tomlinson.

The big thing for the coming year is the Centre's 50th Anniversary Celebration at Kineton Sports & Social Club on Mayday Weekend 2015. Please save this date in your diary - we have lots of entertainment lined up for you, so don't miss it!

21st September 2014

Following the receipt of information that the intended venue for the 2014 AGM is to close, we have been forced to change the venue. The 2014 AGMs will be held at Nether Whitacre Village Hall. There are no changes to the times, but the meeting may start a few minutes later to allow time for members to cross the road from the original venue.

21st September 2014

All nominations for Committee membership must be received by The Secretary by 10am on 28th September. You can download a nomination form from here, or from here for Juniors. All Committee positions are open to receive nominations from eligible Centre members. If any Officer position receives more than one Nomination, a vote will be held at the AGM. Up to 15 Centre members may make up the Committee.

8th June 2014

We're now in a position to confirm the addition of a NEW rally for August Bank Holiday weekend, 2014, at a new venue for a new (to us) event. The Tanks, Trucks and Firepower Show is an annual event near Dunchurch, alongside Draycote Water reservoir, on the Southam/Rugby road. Click here for more information.

3rd June 2014

Sad News received last week.

Mary Morris wife of Selwyn passed away peacefully last Friday (23rd May) afternoon aged 82. Mary & Selwyn were long standing members of EWCC who enjoyed rallying with the Centre for many years.

The funeral is at 10-00am on Friday June 6th at Rainsbrook Crematorium, Ashlawn Road, Rugby, CV22 5ET.

Selwyn has requested no flowers but there is a Charity that contributions can be made to, unfortunately I do not know the name of the Charity but there will be a representative of the Charity at the funeral.

There's a new rally which is not in your rally book - it's at Heath End House in Bickenhill, and coincides with the Caravan Club AGM just two miles away at the National Motorcycle Museum. Rally opens on Friday 24th October, closes on Sunday 26th October. No EHU, showers etc. Basic facilities only. Book online.

We still need a rally officer team to help out at this rally. Please contact a Committee member if you can help.
